Bacteroides

coccobacilli, chains. Morphotype suggests Bacteroides spp.
Impression: gram-negative bacillary meningitis.

stain, light microscopy, HPV. Purulence, moderate. Local
materials, moderate. Gram-negative coccobacilli. Gramnegative bacilli,
filamentous, medium, fusiform. Morphology
suggests gram-negative bacillary anaerobic infection.
Impression: amnionitis, mixed anaerobic bacteria.

Fig 6.  Urine, direct drop smear, Gram stain, light
microscopy, MPV. Purulence, heavy. Gram-negative bacilli,
medium. Gram-positive cocci. Urine culture grew Escherichia
coli
and Enterococcus faecalis. The smear is consistent with a
bacterial density of 105 colony-forming units (CFU) per
milliliter of urine.

Klebsiella pneumoniae
Fig 7.  Decubitus skin ulcer, smear, Gram stain, light
microscopy, HPV. Purulence, moderate. Amorphous debris,
heavy. Gram-negative bacilli, medium, encapsulated. Yeast.
Morphology suggests Klebsiella pneumoniae. Impression:
enteric bacillary disease.

Klebsiella pneumoniae

microscopy, HPV. Purulence, moderate. Mucus, moderate.
Gram-negative bacilli, aberrant, encapsulated. Morphology
suggests antibiotic-affected Klebsiella pneumoniae.
Impression: enteric bacillary disease, partially treated.

for Yersinia pestis. Impression: bubonic plague.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Mucus present. Gram-negative bacilli, regular, chains.
Morphotype suggests Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Impression:
pseudomonas infectious disease.

P. aeruginosa

Mucus present. Gram-negative bacilli, regular, enveloped
in prominent slime layer. Morphotype suggests mucoid
P. aeruginosa. Impression: pseudomonas infectious disease.

moderate. Gram-negative bacilli, fusiform. Morphology
suggests Fusobacterium nucleatumImpression: amnionitis
